Dominic Piers Smith studied piano with Patricia Holmes at the Junior Department at the Trinity College of Music while still at school. After studying aeronautical engineering at Imperial College, London, he started his successful career working on the aerodynamics of racing cars.

 

Dominic decided to return to music as an amateur performer in 2006 after a 10-year break, achieving Distinction in the LRSM Diploma in Performance. After winning several awards, he began to be in demand as a piano soloist, accompanist and ensemble member, whilst continuing to design Formula One cars.

 

He has played at the Wigmore Hall, Purcell Room, South Bank Centre, Southwark Cathedral, the Royal Festival Hall, the Edinburgh Festival and the Malcolm Arnold Festival. Abroad, he has played in Berlin, Budapest, Stuttgart, Warsaw, in the USA, in Morocco, and elsewhere.

 

Dominic’s concerto performance repertoire includes works by Mozart, Beethoven, Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninov, Shostakovich and Nick Planas, and he has recorded a double CD (Chopin and Liszt).
